2012: The End Of a Calendar, Not the World

Though the idea of the End of the World occurring on December 21, 2012 has become popularized by Hollywood and Western culture's obsession with fear and pain, scholars from various disciplines have dismissed the idea that the end of the Mayan Calendar equates the end of the physical world. Research in the field states that no predictions of Armageddon are present in any classic Maya accounts, and that Mayan history and culture is being drastically misrepresented. So much so that the Mayans themselves are having to speak out about this falsehood.
