More than a million wolves were killed between 1850 - 1900 because of the threat they place on livestock farms. For the same reason, in 1907 a call was made for the total extinction of the wolf species and people were financially rewarded for turning in dead wolves. Today, while the odds of wolves preying on farm livestock is low, government sanctioned eradication continues with aerial gunning, poison and snares.
